Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation and configuration
We configure, test and deploy Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations with a delivery approach built around realistic data, end-to-end testing and a cutover plan that has been rehearsed before the weekend it matters.
The challenge
Go-live risk is created long before go-live
ERP implementations rarely fail in a single moment. They slip through configuration done without agreed process designs, test cycles run on clean demo data, migration loads tried for the first time in the final weeks and a cutover plan that exists only in someone's head.
Codefine runs implementation work as engineering. Configuration is traceable to process decisions, test scenarios are end-to-end and use migrated data, and every cutover step is rehearsed with timings — so the go-live weekend is the last rehearsal, not the first attempt.
Capabilities
What we cover in ERP Implementation & Configuration
- 01
Finance
General ledger, financial dimensions, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, cash and bank management, budgeting and period-close setup.
- 02
Supply chain
Procurement and sourcing, sales and marketing, inventory management, warehouse management processes and transportation basics.
- 03
Manufacturing & projects
Production control and costing setups, and Project Operations or project management and accounting configuration where projects drive revenue.
- 04
Data migration
Source-to-target mapping, cleansing rules, data management framework projects and reconciliation reports that finance can sign off.
- 05
Testing
Scenario design from order to cash, procure to pay and record to report, with defects tracked against processes rather than screens.
- 06
Cutover & hypercare
Detailed runbooks, mock cutovers, go/no-go criteria and a hypercare model with clear triage between functional and technical issues.
How the engagement works
A clear sequence, agreed up front
-
Process design
Confirm the to-be processes per module and the configuration decisions they imply.
-
Build & configure
Configure environments in iterations, with configuration captured so it can be reproduced in every environment.
-
Migrate & test
Run repeated migration loads and test cycles with real volumes and migrated data.
-
Rehearse & go live
Rehearse cutover, decide go/no-go on agreed criteria, go live and stabilise.
Technical approach
Our approach to ERP Implementation & Configuration
Configuration is a deliverable, not a side effect
Every environment should be reproducible. We capture configuration in a way that can be moved between environments — through data entities, configuration packages and documented manual steps — so the production environment is built from a known state instead of being assembled by memory.
Test with the data you will actually go live with
Clean demo data hides most real problems: missing dimensions, unusual unit conversions, customers with ten delivery addresses. From the second test cycle onwards, our scenarios run on migrated data so that posting profiles, number sequences and reports are tested against reality.
Rehearse the cutover until it is boring
A cutover plan lists every step, its owner, its expected duration and what happens if it fails. We run it in full at least once in a production-like environment, compare actual timings with the plan and fix the gaps before the real weekend.
Benefits
What changes for your organisation
-
Predictable go-live
Cutover steps, timings and decision points are known before the weekend you switch systems.
-
Trustworthy data
Reconciled migration loads mean finance can sign off opening balances with confidence.
-
Fewer post-go-live defects
End-to-end testing with realistic data catches the issues that screen-by-screen testing misses.
-
Configuration you can explain
Every setup decision traces back to a process, which makes later changes safer.
FAQ
Questions about ERP Implementation & Configuration
Which D365 F&O modules does Codefine implement?
Finance, procurement, sales, inventory and warehouse management, production control and project management are the most common areas. The exact scope depends on your project and we are explicit about where we bring specialist depth.
How do you reduce go-live risk?
By testing end to end with migrated data, running multiple migration and cutover rehearsals with timings, agreeing go/no-go criteria in advance and planning hypercare before go-live rather than after it.
Can you take over a project that is already running?
Yes. We start with a short assessment of configuration, data, test status and open issues, then agree a recovery plan with clear priorities.
Do you support users after go-live?
Yes. Hypercare transitions into ongoing support and managed services if you want continuity with the team that implemented the system.
